2 Kings 13:1-14:29; Acts 18:23-19:12; Psalm 146:1-10; Proverbs 18:2-3

What do you want the final description of your life to be? In the short biographies of the kings of Israel and Judah we are introduced to a great variety of people. Some, like Jehoash, “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” Others like Jeroboam “did evil in the eyes of the Lord and did not turn away from any of the sins…” Then we see people like Jehoahaz who “did evil” but then “sought the Lord’s favor.” As you think about writing a one sentence description of your own life, how would it read? Are you leaving a legacy of faith or of sin?

In looking at Acts, we see many people who spent their life committed to their mission of being disciples who made disciples. Women like Priscilla, men like Paul, who sought to communicate the gospel wherever God placed them. They knew their purpose and lived committed to it. They have modeled for us what it looks like to live in a way where their legacy and description is one of bringing glory to God, the very same path we should be walking.

God, my Father, thank you for your grace and forgiveness in my life. Help me to live focused on you and pursue your glory in all things. May all that I do, be done for you, and to leave a legacy of faithfulness. Amen.

Question of the day: What is the current description of your life and how can you intentionally live differently?
