Deuteronomy 10:1-12:32

God consistently calls the Israelites to fear him, to love, and obey Him. God tells them exactly what will happen if they turn away and worship other gods. A choice is laid before them. If they love him, walk in obedience, hold fast to Him, then they will be blessed—God will drive out the larger and stronger nations. If they choose their own way, if they disobey the commands of the Lord and follow other gods, they will be cursed.

This seems like a no-brainer, who would choose a curse over a blessing? Yet how often do we, like the Israelites, choose disobedience and then complain as we reap the consequences? Let us commit to fear, love, and obey God.

Father God, thank you for clearly speaking through your word and showing how best to live life by fearing and obeying you. I confess that I often live as if I am in control rather than you. Help me to fear you today, to walk in your ways, and hold fast to you.

What keeps you from fearing God, loving him, and obeying what he has said?
