Numbers 27:1-29:40

It may feel at times like parts of the Bible are on repeat. The Israelites are taught once again about the number of offerings they are to make. They are to offer two animals a day and then on various days throughout the year offer many more. We have heard these instructions before, so you may be wondering why it is in here again. I think one of the main reasons is because we are prone to forget. The way God instructed Israel to approach him at this time was through the sacrificial system. If they failed to obey these commands, then there would be no means of drawing near to God. Since God values relationship with his creation, he did not want them to forget.

This is the reason we need to continually meditate on God's Word, why we need to daily spend time in Scripture, and why we need to pray without ceasing. It is for our good and for the glory of God for us not to forget—not to forget his commands and not to forget all that he has done for us.

Father God, help me to remember you in the midst of my life. I confess that I so often forget you and forget how you want me to live. Give me a heart to live for you and remember that life is about you. Amen.

What would help you to more clearly recall God and his word throughout the day?
