Deuteronomy 31:30-32:52; Psalm 90

How often do you stop and remember God's greatness? If you do not, you may find yourself inflating your own greatness. Pride can easily make us feel like we are gods and feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. Moses' song provides a healthy reminder of God's character and our tendency to pride. God is described as our rock. The foundation upon which our lives are built. He is our father and creator. He is the one who gives us life and sustains everything. He is faithful and provides as a father. He is just and will stand against those who oppose him.

The more we have eyes that are fixed upon God, the more we can deal with the world as it is and understand our right place in it. The more clearly we see him, the more we can experience peace knowing that he is the one who holds the whole world in his hands—so we can sleep at night. We are not gods; God alone is, and this should bring us peace.

Father God, thank you that you are the Creator God. Thank you for making and sustaining all things, including me. Help me to always remember that you are God, and I am not, and out of that, live with your peace and joy. Amen.

What attribute of God in Moses' song do you need to meditate upon today?
