Why do you believe the Bible to be true? A simple internet search reveals a myriad of skeptics who try to poke holes in the truthfulness of the Bible. Living in this sea of ideas, we must know why we believe what we believe.
The ultimate foundation for our belief is Jesus. The fact of his life, death, and resurrection, and its evidence becomes the center from which our belief in the whole Bible flows out of. Since we can trust Jesus and the character of God, we can trust his Scripture.
Another amazing gift to prove the historical nature of the Bible is archaeology. In just the last few years there have been several discoveries related to King Hezekiah which we read about today. Here is one example:
-King Hezekiah Royal Seal Discovered
When we come across evidence like this, it should cause us to praise God for his grace in allowing people to discover these things while increasing our confidence in all of Scripture. God has given us Scripture, archaeology, and many other gifts as reminders that he is who he claims to be, and Scripture can be trusted. So, let us continue to trust God, seek his truth, and pursue him with our lives.
God, our Father, thank you that your word is true. Thank you that I can trust you and your Scripture which you have preserved for me. Help me to follow what you say and share your message of hope, love, and grace with others. Amen.
Question of the day: How would you respond to someone who claims the Bible is false?
