2 Chronicles 29:3-31:21

Your spring cleaning should have been done a few months ago, but, if you never got around to it, it is never too late to start. And even if you did it, I’m sure there are new messes and clutter to undertake. Hezekiah's reign begins with a massive spring cleaning project. The focus is not on the homes of the people; rather it is on the home of God, the temple. The priests spent sixteen days cleansing it from all pagan items. Imagine spending sixteen days cleaning a building. That is a massive undertaking. Then, after approximately 250 years of the high places being a location of idolatry, they were torn down. Yet this cleaning did not end with physical idols but with a transformation of people’s hearts. They purified their hearts as they committed themselves to follow God.

It is hard to read today's chapters without an excitement for the radical revival that happened in Israel. As we move from 2 Chronicles to our own lives, we must consider whether we need to undergo a spring cleaning. Do we need a revival and a cleansing to return back to a pure worship of God? I would encourage you to open your heart to God and ask him if there is anything that needs to be cleansed, removed, or added to be fully devoted to him.

Father God, I open my life to you. Show me anything that is not pleasing to you, so I might repent of it and be fully devoted to you. Amen.

What are the things you need to cleanse from your life?
