Exodus 37:1-39:31
All the pieces necessary for worship in the tabernacle are completed: the ark of the covenant, altars, the lamp stand, table, washbasin, and courtyard. This work was done under the leadership of Bezalel and Oholiab. They were given skill (the same word translated wisdom elsewhere) to both build the tabernacle items and to teach others to help them. They had a two-part role of doing and equipping others, which would ultimately lead to the ability of the nation of Israel to worship God. These same roles are echoed in the call of leaders in the New Testament. Leaders within the church are called to equip others to do the work of the ministry while also doing it themselves.
We should be people who are looking to multiply what God has done in our lives into others. Bezalel and Oholiab could have done all the work themselves, but it would have taken far longer than training others to help them. This same idea of spiritual multiplication is echoed in our mission as a church. We are called to be disciples who make disciples. We are to be people who intentionally follow Jesus and help others to follow him. So let us be wise people who obey God and call others to do so as well.
Father God, thank you for making me your child. Help me to be continually grateful for your work in my life and to work out what you are working in me. Give me love and boldness to share you with others and, in your grace, allow me to see people come to faith in you. Amen.
How well are you living out the mission of being a disciple who makes disciples? What is one way you can more intentionally live out of God’s calling?
