2 Corinthians 11:1-13:13; Acts 20:7-12

Why do you believe what you believe? It is critical to be able to answer this question; otherwise, you are prone to believe the latest argument you heard, whether it is true or not. At the end of 2 Corinthians, Paul argues why the church should listen to him rather than the super-apostles that have invaded the church. Paul points to his credentials of suffering, his refusal to take money from the church, and the work of God in their midst, i.e., signs, miracles, and wonders. These are all reasons why the church should believe Paul’s message.

The church was at a crossroads of whether to stand firm on the gospel they received from Paul or wander off to follow false teachers, but, when they considered what God had done, it was no contest. As Paul gave the church in Corinth the "why" for following Jesus, so we should be prepared to do the same with those who are not yet followers of him. We need to be able to answer why we believe the gospel, why we believe Jesus rose from the dead, and why we need a savior.

Father God, thank you for the truth of the gospel. Thank you that Jesus really lived, truly died, and absolutely rose from the dead. Give me opportunities to share the Gospel message with others today. Amen.

What reasons will you give to someone for why they should surrender their life to Jesus?
