John 10:1-42; Luke 13:22-14:24

We live in a postmodern climate where claims of universal truth and exclusivity are mocked. Yet Jesus consistently makes these types of claims throughout his life. He says he is the gate and only by entering through him can someone be saved. Further, he describes the way to salvation as a "narrow door" (Luke 13:24). People often want to think that some vague sense of morality will get them into an eternity with God, but Jesus shows you can only enter through him. Jesus is the only source of salvation, he is the only means of eternal life, and he is the only opportunity for forgiveness. If someone looks anywhere else, they will find themselves in a place where "there will be weeping... gnashing of teeth" (Luke 13:28).

So, the truth claims of Jesus need to be considered by all. We need to proclaim the truth of Christ to those around us because their eternal destiny is determined by what they do with him today. Therefore, let us stand on the exclusive truths of Jesus and share his exclusive message with everyone we can.

Father God, thank you for giving me a good shepherd in Jesus. Help me to confidently share the hope I have in him with others. Amen.

How would you respond to someone who is aghast at the exclusive claims of Jesus and the Bible?
