Psalm 115, 116, 117, 118

The commands we repeat are important. There are many things I have told my children again and again because I want them to remember. As parents to their kids, so God is to us. When he repeats something, we should pay attention to it. In Psalm 115 we are commanded multiple times to "trust in the Lord." Then Psalms 115-117 all end with the phrase, "Praise the Lord." Then in Psalm 118 we are reminded three times, "His (God's) love endures forever."

From just these four psalms we are commanded to trust God, praise God, and remember his love never ends. When we are tempted to trust in ourselves, we need to remind ourselves to trust in God. When we are tempted to grumble and complain, we need to remember to praise the Lord. When we are wallowing in self-pity, we need to remember God loves us more than we can imagine.

Are any of these attitudes absent in our lives? If so, let us heed the repeated words of God and begin obeying the important things he has said.

Father God, help me to listen when you speak. Help me to hear what you have told your people and respond in obedience to your words. Amen.

Which one of the repeated commands in psalms (trust God, praise God, remember his love) do you need to begin obeying?
