Proverbs 11:1-13:25

Is it worth it to follow God? Choosing to follow and obey God means we must humble ourselves, not give in to our broken desires, and may mean suffering, difficulty, and persecution in the moment. Since this is true, we must count the cost of following Jesus. In our Proverbs today we see the value of following God in the destiny of the righteous. The righteous are people who have a relationship with God and live in obedience to him. These people walk with confidence (11:5), experience deliverance (11:6), are rewarded (11:18), attain life (11:19), have a solid foundation for their life (12:7), endure (12:12), are defended (13:6), shine brightly (13:9), and are content (13:25).

As we wrestle with whether it is worth obeying God, we must remember these descriptions. There is no other way to true confidence, deliverance, rewards, life, or contentment except in God. The world will leave us empty, but God will satisfy.

Father God, thank you that in you there is life. Help me to always make you the center of my life and prioritize you above everything else. May I look to you for all that I need. Amen.

What lies do you believe that make you doubt whether following God is worth it?
