Psalm 103, 108-110, 122, 124

We are born praising things. As children we praise toys and ourselves, as we get older, we praise boyfriends and girlfriends, sports teams, friends, and a myriad of other things; but ultimately, we are created to praise God. Since he is the infinite God of the universe, we have an infinite number of things for which to praise him. We may get stuck in a rut of praise where we acknowledge the same few things, but the psalms of praise (with which our reading today is filled) give us many reasons to praise God.

We are called to praise him for "all his benefits" in Psalm 103. We are called to praise him for his love and faithfulness in Psalm 108, and his saving work in Psalm 109 and 124. Whether we are having trouble or ease, pain or comfort, God is worthy of our praise. So let us remember all he has done, so we can praise him during all that he is doing.

Father God, thank you for your continual work on my behalf. Help me to see and acknowledge what you are doing with praise. Let me give you the recognition and adoration only you deserve as my Lord, Savior, Father, and King. Amen.

Do you find yourself in a praise rut? What can you do to change up the way you praise God?
