Daniel 1:1-2:23; 1 Peter 3:8-4:6; Psalm 119:65-80; Proverbs 28:14

What do your friends and neighbors associate you with? Do they know your favorite sports teams, political commitments, and favorite restaurants? What about the God you have given your allegiance to? Our ultimate desire in life should be that everyone associates us with Christ.

Daniel and his friends were exiled to Babylon but chose to remain committed to their God. Rather than conforming to the patterns of their new land, they remained resolute that their primary allegiance was God. This caused tension with their captors and as we’ll see tomorrow caused even greater difficulties, but they refused to give in to the temptations they faced.
In the same way, Peter calls us to, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”. We are to stand up for Christ and stand out in the way we live our lives. We will be given a myriad of opportunities to share the hope we have and we need to be willing to put ourselves out there to do so. We must not slink back but instead, stand up for Christ. So, are you ready to do so? Are you ready to follow in the pattern of Daniel, Peter, and many in the church today who are boldly proclaiming Christ? To fail to do so is to fail to live rightly responding to all that Jesus has done for us.

Father, help me to be ready to speak to others about the great salvation that you have offered to everyone. Help me with love and courage to be prepared today to give an answer for the hope I have in you. Amen.

Question: What can you do to be better equipped to “always be prepared” to share Christ?
