Ezekiel 3:16-6:14; Hebrews 4:1-16; Psalm 104:24-35; Proverbs 26:27

I continually tell my kids that they are not responsible for the actions of others but only for their own choices. They can't control what others do but they can always choose to do what is right. The same is true for us. We are called to follow Christ no matter what the world around us is doing.

Ezekiel shares that the outcome of those who reject God is judgment and destruction. The nation has abandoned God so they will reap the consequences of their choices. God describes their condition as, “A reproach and a taunt, a warning and an object of horror to the nations around you when I inflict punishment on you in anger and in wrath and with stinging rebuke.” In contrast, Hebrews 4 describes the outcome of those who embrace Christ. They will experience the rest of God. They will walk in his abundance, peace, and presence all their days. Two very different outcomes and all based on the choices we make today.

We not only are to choose to follow Christ but also to make him known. God calls Ezekiel to be a "watchman" and has given all believers a similar calling. We are all called to be ambassadors of the gospel. We are responsible to make the gospel known but we cannot control how people will respond. Some people will come to place their faith in Christ and experience rest, while others may reject it, and continue towards judgment. We are not responsible for their choices, but we are responsible for being disciples who make disciples daily in every place we find ourselves.

Father God, give me eyes to see those you have placed in my life who need to hear the message of Christ. Give me the courage to lovingly and boldly make you known to others today. Amen.

Question: How can you be a more effective ambassador of God?
