Jeremiah 51:54-52:34; Titus 3:1-15; Psalm 100:1-5; Proverbs 26:18-19

Teachers must teach the same lessons over and over again. Students are prone to forget what they have been taught and the same is true for us. We consistently need to be taught the truths of God so that we might apply them to our lives.

The fall of Jerusalem is described twice by Jeremiah. First, it was detailed in chapter 39 and we see it again in the final chapter of the book. Further, the disaster of sin and idolatry is recounted on nearly every page of the book. Jeremiah repeats the same themes repeatedly to draw the nation back to faith in God. He recounts God’s love and beauty to try to woo the people to God while also describing the judgment that sin brings. We need this same lesson of God’s grace, truth, and the disaster of sin pounded into our heads.

Also, Titus is told to “remind the people…” As a leader in the church, he is told to repeat the same lessons of submission, obedience, humility, and holiness. We are all prone to stray, so he needs to consistently remind people of the life that God is trying to work out in them. Like Jeremiah and Titus, we need to remind others of the truth of God, while also reminding ourselves of who God is and who he has called us to be.

God my Father, help me to never forget who you are amid the busyness of life. Help me to always cling to your truth, your grace, and the life you have made available to me through the work of your Son and the power of your Spirit. Amen.

Question: What key truths do you need to remind yourself of and how will you do this?
