Ephesians 3:1-5:14

When we get married, we create a new family dynamic. There may be lots of hiccups on the journey, but over time we hopefully learn how to live as a new family. The same is true with our spiritual family. When we come to faith in Christ, we are called to live in a new way that reflects God's family. We are to “live a life worthy of the calling you have received” (Ephesians 4;1). Ephesians 4:3 calls us to live in light of the unity that Christ achieved for the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:22-24 tells us that we are to live according to our new self, rather than who we were before being adopted into God's family. Finally, Ephesians 5 tells us to live according to the light and life that God has given us.

We have been given so many gifts from God. These gifts come with a responsibility and a calling to live up to what we have received in Christ. We are to live in unity and reflect God's family well.

Father God, thank you for all I have been given in Christ. Help me to acknowledge all the good things you have given to me and live worthy of who you have made me. Amen.

What one specific way can you embrace your calling today (Ephesians 4-5 gives a plethora of options if you need some ideas)?
