Acts 12:6-14:20

Jesus commanded his disciples to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. The book of Acts is the beginning of that story which continues today. The beginning of Acts was largely focused on the work of Peter making disciples among Jewish people, and our reading today transitions the spotlight to Paul. Paul's focus is largely going to be on making disciples of Gentiles. Peter and Paul have different target audiences, but their mission and message are the same. They proclaimed Jesus died and rose from the dead so that all people could find forgiveness from sin. This is the message we are called to continue communicating. Whether our target audiences are Jews, Gentiles, a tennis team, neighbors, co-workers, etc., our message needs to be the same. We should be seeking to point all people to Jesus.

As we proclaim the gospel, this may lead to seeing people come to faith in Christ, imprisonment like Peter, death like Stephen, or a response of complete apathy; regardless of the outcome, our mission is the same. We are to be disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ who make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Father God, help me to stay focused on the mission you have given to me. Help me to be a disciple who makes disciples today. Amen.

With what group of people has God asked you to share Jesus?
