Isaiah 28:1-29; 2 Kings 17:5, 18:9-12, 17:6-41; Isaiah 1:1-20

All humans are made in the image of God─this means we have value and dignity. Being made in the image of God has nothing to do with what we do, but rather about who we are. Yet we can choose to accurately live out and reflect more of God’s image in the way we live. As Christians, we are called to be conformed to the image of Christ rather than the pattern of the world. The Israelites had drifted so far from righteousness that God said this about them: “They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless” (Isaiah 17:15).

Rather than becoming more like God, they became more like the worthless idols they chose to follow. We are all constantly changing for the good or the bad. There is no such thing as being stagnant. If we are not taking active steps toward God, we are changing for the worse. Therefore, we need to intentionally follow Christ so we can become increasingly more like him and reflect his character to the world.

Father God, help me to become more like you. Make me more like Jesus through your Spirit’s work. Help me to keep my eyes and life fixed upon the ways of Jesus and reveal you to the world. Amen.

How could you more clearly reflect the character of Christ to the world?
