1 Kings 8:54-66; 2 Chronicles 7:1-10; 1 Kings 9:1-9; 2 Chronicles 7:11-22; 1 Kings 9:10-14

Most of the psalms deal with praise. Praise is a planned or immediate response to the greatness and beauty of an object. As we see the response of Solomon and Israel to the temple, their immediate response is praise. Solomon praises God for the rest he has given his people, his faithfulness, and his presence. His praise is a response to God's actions and character. As the nation praises God, they do so because of God's goodness and his love. They see God reveal himself through fire as a symbol of his glory and cannot help but respond in praise. They are reminded of God's power and greatness, and in turn their own insufficiency, need, and finitude.

Praise is one of the greatest tools God has given us to remember who he is and who we are. It is a response to his greatness and beauty. Therefore, let us praise him today with our words and with our lives.

Father God, you are great and glorious. Thank you for who you are and all you have done for me. Help me to remember your greatness as the king of the universe and my position as your servant. Amen.

How should praise impact the way you live today?
