Recently, I heard a radio commercial that spoke of a plague which has struck relationships in America. It has crippled intimacy, love, and a feeling of connectedness. This plague is the inability to listen. According to the advertisement, our inability to listen is destroying our most important relationships. As we think about our inability to listen, we encounter God who is skilled at hearing his people. Whether God's people find themselves steeped in sin, experiencing oppression, exiled far from the temple, or in hunger, we are told that God will hear.

What a beautiful thing to know: no matter where we are or what we are going through, God hears our prayers. We may not hear or understand what someone tells us, but God always hears our prayers and is waiting to respond. What a great God we have. So let us run to him, speak to him, call out to him, and hopefully, become more like him.

Father God, thank you that you hear my prayers. May I faithfully share with you how I am doing and continually put my needs and requests before you. Thank you that you always hear and are always ready to respond. Amen.

What difference should it make knowing God always hears your prayers?
