Psalm 61-62, 64-67

You can live under the same roof as someone and not spend time with them. You can work with someone for decades and not really know who they are. It is possible to read the Bible for years and not really know God. The primary purpose of reading the Bible, prayer, and all spiritual habits is to meet with God. Psalm 61 speaks of dwelling with God and being in God's presence. Psalm 62 repeats multiple times the idea of finding rest in God and Psalm 65 has the idea coming to God.

As you read these psalms, it is like God opening wide his arms and calling us to come to him. A Disney movie, Encanto, has a line in one of its songs that says, "Bring it in, bring it in" which is a request for a hug. The character is longing to embrace her sister. In the same way, God is calling for us to draw near to him. Busyness, distractions, fear, and all sorts of things may keep us away from him, but God is asking you to come near to him today. His arms are open wide, saying—bring it in, bring it in.

Father God, help me draw near you today. Help me to meet with you, spend time with you, and be refreshed by you. Help me to prioritize what is most important today, which is you. Amen.

What would it look like for you to authentically meet with God today?
