Psalm 47, 48, 49, 84, 85, 87

Some people find the music to be their favorite part of the church service. They love expressing themselves and praising God, while others may find the music to be an almost unnecessary interruption prior to the sermon. Regardless of your attitude, praise should be something we all cultivate in our lives. We need to consistently praise God, because he is worthy of it. Psalm 47 describes God as "the great king over all the earth." Psalm 48 begins by saying "Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise."

Our lives should be an unending praise service to God. So when we come on Sunday mornings and sing, we are simply continuing what we are already doing. We will never run out of reasons to praise God. So we might as well start praising him now with our lips and with our lives, and allow that to carry us into powerful corporate praise on Sundays. We may find ourselves celebrating and praising a variety of different things, but none of them compares to God, who we should praise above all else.

Father God, you are worthy of praise. You are greater than everything else, so help me to give you the praise that you deserve. For, great are you Lord and most worthy of praise. Amen.

How would a continual habit of praise prepare your heart for corporate worship on Sundays?
