2 Corinthians 8:16-24
When is the last time you got a heartfelt letter in the mail? It may have been a long time. Regardless, what is better than a letter, a FaceTime conversation, or a phone call, is an in person visit. It feels wonderful to receive the written correspondence, but it is even more amazing to meet with someone in person. As Paul writes the letter to the church in Corinth, he wants to let them know Titus and two unnamed fellow believers will be coming to show love firsthand. As great as a letter is, Paul understands that people and relationships are more important than a piece of paper.
This reminds us of the critical role relationships play in our lives. We cannot grow spiritually without other people. The New Testament is filled with "one another" commands that illustrate the integral place that people play in our lives. Amid busy lives we must be intentional to love people and do so by spending time with them. So, when you write up your schedule for the next week, where can you make room for some time with people? With whom will you spend time and how can you encourage them when you meet?
Father God, thank you for the people you have placed in my life. Help me to love them well as an overflow of the way you have loved me. Amen.
