Romans 12:1-21
Our thoughts control our actions. The way we think controls our destiny. So, what consumes your thoughts? Do you think like the world or think like God?
Romans 12 challenges us to make sure that our thoughts reflect those of God. Rather than being conformed to the thinking of the world we instead should be “transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Our thoughts should be different when we have a relationship with Christ. We should think differently about ourselves because we can embrace humility rather than pride. We understand we need other people as part of the body of Christ. Thus life is about God and others, not about us. Further, we think differently about others because we see them as people to love instead of competition. We are to be devoted to others, serving people, and practicing hospitality. We learn to think about our enemies as people to love rather than those we want to respond with vengeance, hatred, and animosity.
God’s work in our lives should transform the way we think about everything. Then, as we think differently, we will find our hearts changing and conforming more to the likeness of Christ.
Father God, help me to think your thoughts. Help me to conform my thinking and my life to you. Amen.
